ESPN announced the nominees for the annual Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Award (ESPYS). Candace Parker, Allyson Felix, and Stephen Curry are some of the top names among the nominees.
The 2022 ESPYS will air on July 20, 2022 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on ABC from Los Angeles. ESPN is opening a public fan voting and you can cast their vote at ESPN.com/ESPYS.
The annual celebration of sport will be a night to remember as the world’s greatest athletes are honored. The night will be studded by the greatest highlight moment in sports, and will bring together the greatest stars of athletics.
Candace Parker, basketball star of the Chicago Sky, faces a possible second win for “Best Athlete, Women’s Sports” having received the honor in 2008.

Stephen Curry, star of the Golden State Warriors, is nominated as Best Athlete for Men’s Sports. Curry faces stiff competition against the four-time nominee Aaron Rodgers, and the 2021 nominee Connor McDavid.
For the second-straight year, “Best NBA Player” features the trio of Stephen Curry, Luka Dončić, and Nikola Jokić.
Curry has broken the record for the most 3-point shots made in the entire NBA history, surpassing Ray Allen. This record break is nominated for this year’s “Best Record-Breaking Performance.”
Vying for the same honor is Allyson Felix for the most career medal in the history of US track and field — a record previously held by Carl Lewis — after Felix won her 11th career.
Emerging names in soccer, Trinity Rodman of the Washington Spirit, and football, Jonathan Taylor of the Indianapolis Colts, will also be named as the “Best Breakthrough Athlete” of the year.
